My lifelong passion for food and nature began in the summers of George, Washington, where I spent time on my grandparents’ farm. There, I learned the art of cultivating fruits and vegetables from my grandmother, who taught me to dry seeds, plant, irrigate, and harvest fresh produce. This early exposure instilled in me a deep appreciation for the process and artistry of food, from canning for the winter to setting a beautifully adorned table.
At 15, I entered the culinary industry as a dishwasher, working through high school to afford tuition at Bellarmine Prep. After college and a year on the Victoria Clipper, I pursued my culinary education at Western Culinary Institute, graduating in 1997. My journey took me to Glasgow, Scotland, where I trained at a Michelin-starred hotel under Chef Andrew Farley. This experience ignited my love for different cultures and the thrill of travel and cooking.
Determined to expand my knowledge, I trained in diverse kitchens, honing my craft in fine dining and large-scale banquets under top chefs, including Chef Jon Howe at The Palisades on Magnolia Bluff. My passion for catering grew as I embraced its creativity, beauty, and the joy it brings to clients and guests. In 2001, after immersing myself in the culinary traditions of China, Japan, Spain, and Italy, I founded my catering company, blending global inspiration with exceptional service.
By 2010, I took the next step and built The Gourmet Niche, a shared-use kitchen designed to support and uplift other food entrepreneurs. At the heart of everything I do is my passion for community. My motto, “Move forward, give back,” guides my mission to mentor others, create opportunities, and use food as a way to connect and inspire.
Now, as the owner of CORE Catering, I continue to craft unforgettable dining experiences while fostering meaningful relationships. Outside the kitchen, my greatest joy comes from my two incredible children, Gea and Duncan, who are the lights of my life and my inspiration every day.
I fell in love with food long before I ever stepped foot into a professional kitchen. Some of my earliest memories are of cooking alongside my family. That love of connection through food only deepened during time spent with my grandparents, who once owned a small restaurant outside of town before I was born. I didn’t know it then, but I would eventually follow in their footsteps—continuing a legacy of food, service, and hospitality.
Now, 20 years later, I’ve built a career rooted in hard work, creativity, and connection. As a self-taught chef and caterer, I’ve worn many hats—sous chef, culinary instructor, personal chef—and I’ve been fortunate to learn from generous and inspiring mentors along the way.
At the heart of it all is my love of people. I find deep joy in understanding what makes someone feel seen, celebrated, and cared for. Reading a room, tuning into the details that matter most, and crafting events that leave lasting impressions—that’s where I thrive. Over the years, I’ve honed my ability to create experiences that feel not only seamless and beautiful, but also personal and meaningful.
That couldn’t be truer today working alongside Bette Anne. I truly believe life has a way of bringing the right people together at the right time. It wasn’t long after becoming friends through our daughters that we decided to work together. It’s rare to meet someone who sees life, food, and people through such a similar lens. We share the belief that hospitality is about more than service—it’s about intention, care, and creating something lasting. That connection became the foundation of a truly special partnership.
Today, we are The Core Team—a partnership born from collaboration, mutual respect, and a shared passion for excellence. We’ve had the honor of serving so many incredible clients across the Pacific Northwest, including two seasons as personal chefs for The OL Reign, Seattle’s professional women’s soccer team.
We pour our hearts into every event—from curating thoughtful menus to nurturing lasting client relationships, to leading our team with purpose and pride. To us, food is more than nourishment—it’s a story, a celebration, and a way to bring people together. I’m grateful for the chance to share that story with every client we serve.
